Hinduism is the principal religion followed in India. It is exemplified by a caste system and belief in rebirth. It is a body of common philosophical and religious beliefs and cultural practices followed in India and characterized by a belief in reincarnation and a supreme being of many forms and natures. Some other countries of the Indian sub continent like Nepal and Bangladesh have their religious beliefs rooted in Hinduism. It is a very old religion which can be dated back to thousand of years ago much before the birth of Christ. Nowadays, the way Hinduism is practiced varied from state to state in India. Every community has its own different ways of worshipping but essentially they are the same and their beliefs have a common root. |

Hinduism is believed to have been originated by the civilization on the bank of river Indus many a thousand years ago. It dates back to the Early Vedic Age and Later Vedic Age.Since its inception it has seen many changes. The way of performing rituals have changed.Some practices like animal sacrifice came into practice in the Later Vedic Age. Caste system also crept in the religion. |
